Travel Information for the Esoteric Quest to Scotland
Main Conference Attendees:
Participants whose travels begin with our Main Conference will arrive into Inverness Airport on the 21st of August for optional group travel to Stornoway via Ullapool, or into Stornoway Airport (SYY) on the 22nd of August, to make their own way to the conference. Group travel is recommended for participants whose flight options do not allow for convenient or same-day connections, or for anyone preferring a more leisurely entry into Scotland.
Main Conference Group Travel:
Main Conference participants opting for group travel will arrive into Inverness Airport (INV) by the early afternoon of Monday the 21st of August. Open Center staff will be at the airport to greet arrivals and direct us to our coach. We’ll depart at 3pm for the 90-minute drive to Ullapool, a picturesque fishing town nestled on the shores of Loch Broom (exact details of meeting time and place will be emailed or sent to you closer to conference time in your Welcome Packet).
We’ll have dinner and spend the night in Ullapool before making our way to the 10:30 ferry to Stornoway the following morning. Participants will be able to enjoy their afternoon in Stornoway before our Main Conference’s opening reception and dinner that evening.
Note: Participants will want to take their lunch at the airport on the 21st.
Main Conference Independent Travel:
Main Conference participants need to arrive at Stornoway Airport (SYY) by the early to mid-afternoon of Tuesday the 22nd of August. Taxis will be available at the airport for the 10-15 minute taxi ride to our hotels. Open Center staff will be on site at each hotel to greet arrivals and hand out conference packets.
There will be time to check in to our accommodations and prepare for the evening’s opening reception and dinner.
Participants joining us for our Pre-Conference program will book their air travel to arrive in Inverness on Saturday the 19th of August. Taxis will be available at the airport for the 15-20 minute drive to our hotels. We’ll have a free afternoon to explore Inverness before we meet for dinner, the first event of our Pre-Conference.
Returning Home or Continuing On:
Our Main Conference will conclude around noon on Sunday the 27th of August.
Participants returning home at this point will have the option of joining the Open Center for group travel back to Inverness, or making their own way by taxi to Stornoway Airport for flights departing at 2:30pm or later.
Group travel is recommended for participants whose direct or connecting flights leave the UK on Monday the 28th of August. Together we will take an early afternoon ferry, with boxed lunches, from Stornoway back to Ullapool. A coach will meet us in Ullapool for the 90-minute drive to Inverness’ central railway station, arriving close to 7pm. Taxis will be available here to take participants to their next destination, whether that is Inverness Airport or a hotel for the evening. Anyone needing assistance in booking accommodations in Inverness for the night of the 27th is welcome to contact our on-site travel agent, Julia MacLeay, at Spirit Journeys (email@example.com or 011-44-1463-240467).
Post-Conference Scotland participants will be traveling as a group from Stornoway on the 27th, by ferry and coach, stopping for dinner in Inverness before continuing on to Findhorn that evening.
The Post-Conference Scotland trip concludes in Glasgow on Sunday the 3rd of September. Participants will be brought to Glasgow Airport (GLA) in time for flights departing after 6pm. Those of us whose flights home leave on Monday the 4th will be taken to the city’s central railway station. Taxis will be available here to take participants to their next destination.
